Tus ideas no son tuyas y a veces te perjudican.
En ocasiones, tenemos que afrontar cambios importantes en nuestra vida. Por iniciativa propia o porque las circunstancias nos conducen a ello. Con frecuencia, nuestras ideas preconcebidas y nuestros miedos nos impiden sacarle todo el provecho a la situación o nos paralizan cuando hemos empezado.
Haber perdido el trabajo, poner fin a una relación que no nos aportaba nada, cerrar un negocio que nos estaba metiendo en la ruina, son experiencias que nos pueden llegar a bloquear. Sin embargo, no es más que un cambio de escenario. Nuestra vida continúa, y puede ser, que a partir de ese momento, cambie a mejor.
La vida es un cambio permanente. El invierno se transforma en primavera, y esta da lugar al verano. Dejamos de ser niños y nos convertimos en adultos. Entre medias pasamos por la adolescencia. Si esto es así. ¿Por qué tenemos miedo a los cambios? ¿A caso es que somos de una determinada manera y no podemos cambiar? ¿O es que nuestro cerebro nos engaña?
¿De dónde provienen las ideas?
Mao Tse Tung, el fundador de la China moderna, escribió en 1963 un texto que se titulaba “¿De dónde provienen las ideas correctas?” Mao estaba empeñado en transformar China en un país moderno. China era un país con mil millones de habitantes, encerrado en una estructura feudal que le había conducido a un retraso de siglos y que había generado inmensas bolsas de pobreza. Había quien se sorprendía que entre los seguidores de Mao hubiera personas que se resistieran a los cambios.
Nos puede gustar más o menos la situación política y social de China, pero lo cierto es que, hoy por hoy, es la segunda potencia económica del mundo, y sin la revolución china, esto no hubiera sido posible. La reforma agraria, que se dio en su día, fue uno de los movimientos de redistribución de la riqueza más grandes, jamás acometidos, en la historia de la humanidad.
La práctica social.
Cuando a Mao le preguntaban: “¿De dónde vienen las ideas correctas?” Él, con una sonrisa, respondía: “Del mismo sitio que las incorrectas.” En su texto se pregunta así mismo: “¿A caso caen del cielo? ¿Son innatas de los cerebros?”. Y entonces contestaba: “No. Solo pueden venir de la practica social.”
La práctica social es colectiva y está históricamente determinada. No depende de la inteligencia de las personas, sino de unas condiciones sociales dadas. Por muy listo que fuera Leonardo Da Vinci, jamás hubiera podido inventar el avión. La ciencia no estaba lo suficientemente desarrollada.
Si a todos les preguntamos qué idea tienen de madre, con sus propias palabras responderán más o menos lo mismo. “La persona que me dio la vida y que me cuida cuando lo necesito.” Esto es porque colectivamente estamos inmersos en la misma práctica y establecemos las mismas relaciones.
Se puede ver en algunos experimentos que se han hecho. En la novela “Robinson Crusoe” un naufrago inglés cae en una isla desierta, y con sus propios medios intenta reproducir la forma de vida (casa, alimentación, etc.) de la Inglaterra victoriana. Sin embargo, el niño salvaje, encontrado unas décadas antes en los bosques de Laucone, al sur de Francia, corría desnudo entre los árboles, se alimentaba de frutos silvestres y raíces y no sabía hablar.
Tenía 10 años cuando lo descubrieron dos cazadores. Tiempo después se supo que se trataba de un niño pequeño que se perdió en el bosque y que para poder sobrevivir tuvo que hacer lo mismo que los animales. En 1970, el director de cine François Truffaut hizo una película inspirada en el caso. ¿Era más listo Robinson Crusoe que el niño salvaje? O es que procedían de una práctica social distinta.
Esto, que está formulado en términos colectivos, tiene un gran valor individual. Si las ideas nos son nuestras, podemos desprendernos de aquellas que no nos son útiles, con total naturalidad. Y potenciar las que sí nos beneficien. Si nos va mal en el amor o somos un desastre en los negocios, no es porque Dios nos ha hecho así. Quizás tengamos que cambiar el enfoque con el que nos planteamos la vida.
La sociedad no es la culpable.
Aunque las ideas vengan de la práctica social, no somos un engranaje de la sociedad. En realidad, a la sociedad tú le das exactamente igual. Eres interesante en cuanto a que te vas a poner a trabajar para hacer rico a otra persona con el fruto de tu trabajo. Si montas un negocio, al Estado le da igual si te va bien o mal. Solo le importa que pagues impuestos.
Lo podemos ver también en cuestiones sociales. La violencia machista lleva existiendo durante siglos. ¿Por qué ahora somos especialmente sensibles a ella? En primer lugar porque un grupo de mujeres han dicho basta. Y en segundo lugar, porque las mujeres se han incorporado masivamente al mercado de trabajo. Ya no están en casa cuidando a los niños. Los empresarios se han dado cuenta de que con la violencia machista les matan a las trabajadoras. Por lo tanto, tienen un problema.
Es duro aceptarlo, pero tus proyectos y tus planteamientos le dan igual a los demás, salvo que vayan a resolverles un asunto o les aporten algo. Por eso, nadie va a venir a arreglarte tus problemas. Si no te cuidas tú, nadie te va a cuidar. De ahí, lo importante de que tomes decisiones correctas, que estén en coherencia con lo que quieres conseguir, y te desprendas de aquellos prejuicios y miedos que te impiden avanzar.
En esa tarea va bien apoyarte en los demás. Da igual por qué te ayuden. Si es porque es su trabajo, porque les has caído simpática o simpático, o porque son tu pareja, tu familia o tus amigos y te quieren. Lo cierto es que cuando se analizan las cosas desde fuera se ven con cierta distancia y con más objetividad.
Los demás te pueden dar consejos, pero eres tú quien toma las decisiones sobre tu vida. Eres tú quien tienes que desprenderte de las ideas negativas que te frenan. Acometer los cambios que necesitas, muchas veces, te lleva a nadar a contracorriente de ti mismo y de tus propias concepciones. Pero es necesario que lo hagas. No te creas todo lo que piensas.
